Well, Sept 24 (our planned departure date) came and we went.
The boat was ready to go: the mast was down and provisions were aboard. It had been an extremely hectic week with goodbye and other parties almost every evening.
Even the biggest journey can begin with a small step, and ours certainly was: a hop from Rideau Ferry Marina to the Narrows Locks: a journey of about 12 nautical miles. We were joined by friends (Pam & Gerry and Caroline and Terry). You can see them trying hard to keep up (ha, ha).
It did not take the dogs long to get into the swing of things.
After several bottles of wine, much excellent cameraderie and fellowship, we were forced to say our good-byes. Our friends left for their marina and we awaited for the locks to open in the morning so that we could begin our trip in earnest.
